Manchester United could face the departure of Christian Eriksen in the summer amid interest from Turkish side Galatasaray, while Brentford manager Thomas Frank expressed his willingness to welcome the midfielder back.

Eriksen's future at United appears increasingly uncertain, with the Danish international on the fringes of Erik ten Hag's plans.

His opportunities in the Premier League have been limited, starting in just nine matches, and the return to fitness of other options in recent weeks is likely to further reduce his playing time.

United are aiming to rejuvenate the squad this summer by reducing the age profile, and offloading older players will serve this objective.

With Eriksen entering the final 12 months of his contract, Galatasaray are reportedly interested in securing his services, as per ESPN.

Galatasaray, who edged United to third place in this season's Champions League group stages, earning a spot in the Europa League, were initially linked with Eriksen before the Turkish deadline on Friday.

However, they have decided to delay any potential move until the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.

Eriksen joined United on a free transfer in 2022 following his departure from Brentford. Returning to the Premier League after his contract with Inter Milan was terminated due to the installation of an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD), which is prohibited in Serie A.

"He will always be welcome back, Christian – always," said Frank to Danish outlet Tipsbladet. "I think he knows that. And we know that he had a good time here. I understood well why he went to United back then, and I’ve said that publicly. I also think he’s done well. Of course, he had an injury before Christmas for a while. But if Christian wants, he’s very welcome."

Eriksen is among several ageing United players who could be offloaded this summer as Ten Hag seeks to rebuild the squad under the stewardship of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The INEOS chief is set to assume control of footballing operations once his investment is fully approved, and both he and the manager are looking to reduce the squad's average age.
